Fire Clayton Looney

University of Montana administration has failed to adequately address this hate and blatant racism.

Who's Clayton Looney?

Clayton Looney is the Poe Family Distinguished Faculty Fellow and Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) in the College of Business at the University of Montana. He has been at the university since 2006. Looney received a slap on the wrist and only had to complete a sensitivity training course to learn how to combat discrimination in response of his racist actions.

Re-Open Title IX Case

Sign The Petiton demanding The Case to be opened again!

On March 7, 2020, UM received reports of racist language and behavior from MIS professor Clayton Looney, in which he called his own daughter the n-word, made disparaging jokes about Muslim people wearing “towel wraps,” Ethiopian and East African people, and dark-skinned Black people, specifically saying that he hopes his child grows up to be Black but not “too Black…like those Ethiopians”. The University concluded that the allegations against Looney did not constitute a workplace issue after months of waiting in October 2021.

For students who are required to take his classes to graduate in their degree program but feel unsafe or uncomfortable being in a class with him, or feel that they will be unfairly discriminated against if they have to take a class with him, they can also file a Title IX report.Title IX reports can be made online

"To Whom This May Concern,I am writing to you regarding professor Clayton Looney. I am disgusted and horrified to attend a university where your administration allows disgraced, racist professors to remain.
A mere diversity/sensitivity training is not enough to change Professor Looney's racist views against Muslims, Black, and East African people.
Thus far, the university administration has failed to adequately address this hate and blatant racism. How can Seth Bodnar say that "The University of Montana is committed to providing a working and learning environment that is free of all forms of discrimination", yet this administration actively allows discrimination to fester?Professor Looney's actions must be addressed promptly and effectively. I ask that the Title IX case against Professor Looney is re-opened and for Professor Looney to resign immediately. I also urge you to collaborate with student groups and offices on campus committed to DEI."
